Vancouver Lake Half Marathon rescheduled to Feb. 26

Storm damage at Vancouver Lake Regional Park has forced the postponement of the Vancouver Lake Half Marathon until Feb. 26.

The 27th edition of the race, staged each January by the Clark County Running Club, was scheduled for Sunday.

But tree damage from the recent snow has forced the closure of the park until further notice.

Monday, Clark County Running Club president Russ Zornick wrote on the Clark County Running Club’s Facebook page that postponement is “more than likely.”

Zornick wrote the club looked into moving the start/finish staging area to Frenchman’s Bar Regional Park. But that park is also affected by storm damage and might not have sufficient parking.

On Thursday evening, Zornick wrote that race organizers had settled on Feb. 26 after originially considering Feb. 12.

“We picked the 26th because the Heartbreak Half is on the 12th. And we did not want to do it on the 19th because that is President’s Day weekend.”
