La Center — La Center Elementary School’s inaugural Blanket Drive brought in 54 blankets, which the school’s Parent Teacher Organization then donated to Project Linus, a national organization that distributes new, handmade blankets to children who are seriously ill, traumatized or otherwise in need. The school was looking for handmade blankets, including no-sew, quilts and afghans. The Portland/Vancouver chapter of Project Linus has donated more than 46,000 blankets throughout the last 15 years.
