Clark County – Dec. 3’s Walk & Knock food drive collected less food but more money than in 2015. The annual event collected 126.3 tons, or 252,600 pounds, of food and more than $16,000 in donations.
In 2015, Walk & Knock collected 133 tons of food and $14,000.
It’s the Clark County Food Bank’s biggest annual pantry stuffer, relying on about 4,000 volunteers. Besides food collected from people’s doorsteps, food was also collected in donation barrels around the county. Justin Wood, Walk & Knock president, said the amount of money raised could reach $20,000 or more in part because Walk & Knock has some excess funds in its administrative account.
