Nominees for Week 4 winter sports prep athlete of the week

Weekly vote, sponsored by Athletes Corner, open through Thursday

Here are the nominees for The Columbian winter sports prep athlete of the week, sponsored by Athletes Corner, for the week period ending Jan. 7.

Athletes may win the honor once in during the regular season and cannot be nominated in consecutive weeks.

Voting will continue until 8 p.m. Thursday, with results announced in Friday’s edition of The Columbian.

SARAH ELLIS, COLUMBIA RIVER GYMNASTICS: Ellis won the beam and floor at the Washington Open Winter Invitational at Naydenov.

HALEY HANSON, CAMAS GIRLS BASKETBALL: Hanson averaged 11 points a game as the Papermakers posted three wins, including two league wins.

BAILEY PETERS, FORT VANCOUVER GIRLS BOWLING: Peters averaged 201 over four games this week, including a high game of 233.

COLLIN PRANGLEY, WASHOUGAL BOYS BASKETBALL: Prangley scored 31 points as the Panthers won a league game against Hockinson.

TOMMY STRASSENBURG, UNION BOYS WRESTLING: Strassenberg won five matches, including two by pin, to win the 152-pound division at the Gut Check Challenge in Bremerton.
