Vancouver – The city of Vancouver is seeking public input on guidelines for entities that apply for funding through its new Affordable Housing Fund. The fund approved by voters in November brings in $6 million a year for seven years to create more affordable housing.
Comments about application guidelines have to be submitted to the city no later than 5 p.m. Friday, Jan. 27. The passage of Proposition 1 allows the city to levy a property tax and grant out the money collected to qualifying projects through an annual application process.
Draft application guidelines can be viewed at www.cityofvancouver.us/affordablehousingfund. Comments can be submitted by email to affordablehousingcomments@cityofvancouver.us, by mail to Community and Economic Development, Attn: Peggy Sheehan, P.O. Box 1995, Vancouver, WA 98668-1995, or by calling Peggy Sheehan at 360-487-7952.
Applications may be available beginning in March. After a public hearing, Vancouver City Council will vote on how to disperse the funding.
