OLYMPIA — Washington’s steelhead specialty motor vehicle license plate now is available for purchase.
Money from the plate sales will be used by the state Department of Fish and Wildlife to help support activities to conserve populations of wild steelhead.
More than 4,000 people expressed interest in buying a steelhead license plate in 2016 when the department collected the signatures required to seek legislative approval to offer a new specialty plate.
Initial price of special wildlife-themed background plates range from $54 to $72 depending on the vehicle, in addition to regular license fees.
