Baseball season might be a couple months away, but the Seattle Mariners are warming up their fans around the Northwest.

Vancouver is among nine cities to be visited in January by the Mariners Caravan, which brings players, broadcasters and team personalities to communities around the state.

Jan. 19, the Mariners Carivan is scheduled to visit The Lumberyard and 4212 NE Minnehaha St. from 4:15 to 5:30 p.m.

Infielder Daniel Vogelbach, pitcher Cody Martin and broadcaster Aaron Goldschmidt are scheduled to appear. Autographs will be available and kids 14 and under can participate in an MLB Pitch, Hit & Run exhibition.

Ridgefield teen sets indoor track record

Trey Knight, a freshman at Ridgefield High School, set an indoor track and field national record for high school freshman in the weight toss.

Knight threw a 25-pound weight 68 feet, 8 inches, beating the old record by three feet. He set the record at the Tuck Gionet Winter Indoors Throws Festival in Snohomish.

This summer, Knight won two titles at the USA Track and Field Junior Olympics National Championships, setting a record in the shot put.
