MacKenzie Ellertson scored a game-high 24 points, but a cold-shooting third quarter was King’s Way Christian’s undoing in the 1A district tournament elimination game at W.F. West High School.

King’s Way (8-11) led Hoquiam throughout the first half. Hoquiam (9-13) went on a 17-3 run in the third quarter, which was too much for the Knights to overcome.

“We just hit a cold streak in the third,” King’s Way coach Charlie Boyce said. “We couldn’t keep them off the boards.”

Boyce praised the rebounding efforts of his players Amber Kolb and Hannah Nichols.

Hoquiam advances to play Elma on Saturday in the third place game. The winner also receives a state regional berth.
