Woodland — Woodland High School’s SkillsUSA team collected 850 items for the Woodland Action Center through a food drive.

Along with collecting and sorting the food, the students also compiled and printed a free book of recipes for healthful, home-cooked meals using the ingredients that were donated for customers of the food bank.

The 850 items are a record for the group’s food drive. Kimberly Miller, the life-skills teacher and SkillsUSA adviser, said that in previous years, the food drive brought in around 100 to 150 items, according to a release from the school district.

This extracurricular program offers students the opportunity to compete in different events focusing on personal skills, technical skills and workplace skills.
