Hearthwood — Washington State University Extension’s Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program Education’s Harvest of the Month campaign visited Hearthwood Elementary School in February.
This month’s special ingredient is pears. More than 300 students tasted a pear crisp, and most gave it a thumb’s up, according to a release from the school.
The local pears were from Niel Jones Food Company in Vancouver. Pears will be featured on the lunch menu throughout the month at Hearthwood.
