Battle Ground — Eight kids spent a morning earlier this month shopping at Wal-Mart with five police officer volunteers as part of the Battle Ground Police Department’s Shop with a Cop. Police met the kids at the police station for snacks before heading over to the store in a motorcade of cop cars. The children are in elementary and middle schools in Battle Ground, and were nominated for the event by school staff for their academic efforts and exemplary citizenship. They were each given $300 to spend. The program is funded by a $2,500 Wal-Mart community grant.
