JC Alexander might be in his first season as Mountain View head coach, but he’s not in it alone.
“We’ve got great leadership from our upperclassmen,” Alexander said. “They’re really buying in. We’re preaching a lot of team, a lot of family, a lot of concepts that football and other sports do.”
After going 4-16 last season, Mountain View won two of its first four games.
The Thunder can score in different ways. Alex Hegel, a strong and nimble 6-foot-3 post, had 22 points in a season-opening win over Washougal. Alex Bailey, a 6-foot-2 guard, had 25 points Nov. 30 against 4A state runner-up Union.
Alexander hopes his team creates havoc on defense.
“I’m a defensive-minded coach,” he said. “That’s what we’re priding ourselves on. In high school basketball, if you can apply pressure you can usually cause some turnovers and make something happen.”
