The big freeze, and the icy roads that have resulted, is predicted to turn to the big thaw later today.
Until then, sidewalks and roads will be treacherous. Main routes are easier to traverse than local streets. Portland streets are worse, because that area received more freezing rain and less snow than Clark County.
The National Weather Service continued its winter weather advisory until 10 a.m., then extended it to 1 p.m.
The high today is still forecast at 40 degrees, with possible rain this afternoon. Tonight’s low is projected to be 28 degrees but it will be dry.
