Our flirtation with freezing ice over the last few days is back on.

The National Weather Service in Portland has issued a winter weather advisory from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. Sunday calling for freezing rain and possibly a few snowflakes for the metro area.

There’s even a chance for up to two inches of snow to accumulate briefly Sunday afternoon if conditions are right.

As usual the best chance for snow and ice is in the east part of the county near the mouth of the Columbia River Gorge. Up to two tenths of an inch of ice is expected, but the snow is a longshot.

The conditions will be considerably more wintry in the Columbia River Gorge, which is under a winter storm warning. Up to eight inches of snow topped with freezing rain is predicted there.

Anywhere snow or ice accumulates, it will make driving tricky. You can call 511 for road conditions or check the highway webcams at wsdot.wa.gov.
