Hockinson quarterback Canon Racanelli was named the Class 2A football state player of the year Friday, as voted on by media members statewide.
Racanelli led the Hawks to an undefeated season, capped by the program’s first state title after a 35-22 victory over Tumwater in the championship game Dec. 2. He also was a first-team all-state selection at quarterback, throwing for 4,128 yards and 57 touchdowns and also rushing for 638 yards and 17 touchdowns to headline Hockinson’s five players to earn first-team all-state honors.
Sophomore Sawyer Racanelli (receiver), and seniors Kordell Johnson (offensive line), Kyle Brabec (defensive line) and Colton Wheeler (linebacker) were first-team all-state honorees. Senior Matt Henry was honorable mention at defensive back, as was Columbia River’s Beau Braden at offensive line.
Other Clark County honorees selected: La Center, which reached consecutive Class 1A state semifinals, had four first-team all-state selections: Wyatt Dodson (running back), Jack Hiller (offensive line), Wyatt Siebert (defensive line) and Evan Honore. Hiller, a recent Montana Tech signee, also was honorable mention at defensive line.
