An Arnada neighborhood woman says she was on a routine walk to a grocery store Monday night when a young man shocked her repeatedly with a stun gun.

The man grabbed her neck from behind and connected the Taser to her neck and cheek about six times, the victim said in an interview with The Columbian. She asked her name not be used. Several welts marked her face, but she wasn’t seriously injured.

Responding officers were unable to locate the suspects or the blue sedan they’d been driving in, according to a report provided by Vancouver Police Department.

It all started shortly before 7 p.m. Monday. The woman was walking on the east side of Main Street. When she reached East 25th Street, a sedan pulled up past the stop sign, so she crossed in front of it, having the right-of-way, she said.

The car’s occupants, two young men and a young woman, apparently became upset due to her passing in front of them. The woman in the backseat yelled at her, she said.

The woman exchanged words with the group, who shouted profanities at her before she tried to brush off the entire situation. However, she said, they followed her to the area of East 29th Street, where the assault occurred.

Vancouver police spokeswoman Kim Kapp said in an email Tuesday that officers are continuing to look into the incident.
