The National Weather Service said a long swath of Oregon and Washington, including the greater Vancouver area, may experience patchy, light freezing rain Friday morning.

There is a small window of possibility for the forecasted freezing rain in the area. The rainfall will create little, if any, ice accumulation on the roads from 8 to 10 a.m. for the Willamette Valley and Clark County, according to the weather service.

The threat may last until 1 p.m. for valleys in the south Washington Cascades, far north Oregon Cascades and Upper Hood River Valley, according to the weather service.

At 3 a.m. Friday, temperatures in many lowland areas were in the upper 20s to lower 30s.

Temperatures are expected to rise, but “there is a chance that temperatures may not warm above
freezing before the rain begins. This would result in patchy light freezing rain,” an NWS special weather statement said.

The weekend forecast for Vancouver calls for a 30 percent chance of rain until Monday night.
