Letter: Build a wall, keep others out

Letter writer Carl W. Mattila is concerned with real estate and rental rates becoming outrageous (“Our democracy is failing,” Dec. 6, Our Readers’ Views). Too many people, not enough floor space. School teachers and schools are overwhelmed. Too many people and not enough floor space.

These two issues, coupled with my main concern — traffic on I-5 and I-205 — can easily be addressed with one simple solution. Build the wall! It won’t cure the problem, but would certainly help.

Sanctuary cities do not help; they attract illegal immigrants like a magnet.

“Build it and they will come” is a quote adapted from Kevin Costner’s film “Field of Dreams.” The quote is not a dream, but a nightmare of truth. This is true for illegal immigrants going to sanctuary cities, and for the homeless. They go to where they get the best deal.

We encourage readers to express their views about public issues. Letters to the editor are subject to editing for brevity and clarity. Limit letters to 200 words (100 words if endorsing or opposing a political candidate or ballot measure) and allow 30 days between submissions. Send Us a Letter
