Earlier this month, Hockinson football coach Rick Steele hoisted a state championship trophy.

Sunday, Steele will help hoist an iconic symbol of Northwest football. He and five other coaches will raise the “12th Man” flag before the Seattle Seahawks face the Los Angeles Rams in a game that could decide the NFC West title.

Steele and the five other coaches who won state football championships this season were invited to do the honor. Past Seahawks greats and other Northwest celebrities are typically chosen to raise the flag.

This is the first year the Seahawks have invited championship-winning football coaches to raise the flag. The team says it will become a new tradition to help grow support for youth football in Washington.
