Avery Seter answered the challenge.
At halftime, La Center boys basketball coach Jeremy Ecklund got into his junior guard a bit.
“I challenged him at halftime a little bit to get to the rim and be more of a big scoring guard,” Ecklund said.
Seter responded to perfection, scoring 16 of his game-high 30 points in the third quarter to help the Wildcats to a 70-63 victory over the Washougal Panthers on Tuesday night.
Seter had two of his three 3-pointers in the period as part of La Center’s 25-point quarter. Washougal nearly matched the Wildcats point for point in the eight minutes, and Hunter Ecklund put the game away in the fourth with five free throws after La Center’s 13-point lead was trimmed to single digits. Ecklund finished with 24 points, six rebounds and three steals.
