Two residents were displaced Sunday in a Vancouver mobile home fire, according to the Vancouver Fire Department.

The fire was reported at 8:05 p.m. at 2910 N.E. Cherry Road, in the Minnehaha area, said fire department spokesman Mark Johnston. The first of three engines arrived at the scene in about four minutes, he said.

Firefighters spotted light smoke escaping the structure, described in reports as a small mobile home, Johnston said.

Two people were in the home when its electricity turned off, and they began to smell smoke. They were able to escape without injury and call 911, Johnston said.

Responders put out the fire quickly, “but the damage was considerable,” Johnson said.

Firefighters remained on scene for about three hours, clearing the area of ignitable material and mopping up the scene.

Johnston said the cause of the fire is being investigated by the Clark County Fire Marshal.
