Former Evergreen High School teacher Matthew Morasch will remain out of custody while he appeals his convictions for trying to take “upskirt” images of females, including a student.

Morasch, 42, was granted supervised release Thursday afternoon in Clark County Superior Court after posting a $25,000 appeals bond, court records show.

A judge on Tuesday handed down a six-month jail sentence for Morasch for one count of voyeurism, a felony, and two counts of attempted voyeurism, gross misdemeanors.

In July, a jury found that he tried to take “upskirt” images of a 14-year-old girl in his class and another woman at a local Goodwill store in the spring of 2015.

His former student — the only victim who was identified by police — testified at his trial that in addition to Morasch attempting to take video up her dress, she was also the subject of a separate photo taken earlier that year.

Morasch was a freshman physics teacher at the school and was in his 10th year with the district when the crimes occurred. The district placed him on leave when the allegations surfaced, but he later resigned.

As part of his release, Morasch must comply with the conditions set out in his sentence, which includes no contact with minors or the victim. Morasch also cannot have access to a cellphone with a camera, court records show.
