Washougal — Jemtegaard Middle School teacher Rebecca Bohlin was named a 2017 Washington State Legislature Civic Education Scholar.

The program is a five-day summer workshop in Olympia, which offers teachers a chance to get an inside view of the legislative process and develop in-depth strategies for bringing civics experiences into the classroom.

The teachers meet with legislators, Supreme Court justices, lobbyists and other policymakers, learn how the three government branches interact, participate in mock committee hearings and develop lesson plans and classroom activities about state government.
