PORTLAND — A Habitat for Humanity truck used to haul tools and materials from deconstruction sites to area ReStores, including the one in Vancouver, was stolen over the weekend.

The truck was taken from the parking lot at the ReStore support offices on Northeast Marx Street in Portland.

It was used by the ReStores’ salvage service team, which removes cabinets, appliances, windows, doors and other items from deconstruction sites that are then sold in ReStores to raise money for Habitat projects.

“It’s all very disappointing,” Joe Connell, vice president of retail operations for Habitat for Humanity Portland Metro East, said in a news release. “The chance of recovering the truck in any operational condition is very slim to none at all.”

Anyone who sees the stolen truck is asked to call the Portland Police Bureau’s nonemergency number, 503-823-3333.

The ReStore support offices, which can be reached at 503-517-0720, are seeking a donation of a vehicle that could be used to move building materials. Otherwise, monetary donation to help buy a replacement vehicle can be given online by visiting habitatportlandmetro.org and selecting “ReStore Truck” on the donation page.
