Following a more than five-hour standoff with law enforcement, deputies arrested a man who barricaded him himself in his parents’ home in the Pleasant Highlands neighborhood north of Vancouver.

Deputies were called to the 6800 block of Northeast 119th Street, near its intersection with Northeast 72nd Avenue, around 3:40 p.m. for a report of an unwanted person, according to dispatch logs.

The Clark County Sheriff’s Office said the homeowners reported that their 30-year-old son, who does not live at the residence, arrived at the home and then was asked to leave.

The man, identified as Uriah K. Schlosser, refused, and then broke into the home through a patio door, shattering the glass, according to the sheriff’s office.

The parents fled, the sheriff’s office said, and the regional SWAT team and negotiators responded.
Attempts to persuade the man to surrender were initially unsuccessful.

Deputies also found that Schlosser had an outstanding felony arrest warrant.
Northeast 119th Street was closed from Northeast 50th Avenue to Northeast 72nd Avenue as law enforcement surrounded the area.

Finally, around 8:40 p.m., deputies took Schlosser into custody.

No one was injured, the sheriff’s office said.

Schlosser was arrested on suspicion of domestic violence breaking and entering and for the outstanding warrant, which is out of Multnomah County, and was booked into the Clark County Jail.
