Officers quickly arrested two suspects in a burglary that occurred at an occupied apartment in Vancouver Saturday afternoon.

A resident of the Fisher’s Mill Apartments, 1000 S.E. 160th Ave., called 911 just before 4 p.m. to report that two people had broken the back sliding glass door and entered the unit, Vancouver Police Cpl. Brent Donaldson said.

The suspects, a man and a woman, were armed with a large knives and a bat and got into an altercation with the resident, Donaldson said. The victim suffered minor injuries but was not transported to a hospital.

The suspects fled the scene in a vehicle, and responding officers quickly located the involved vehicle, apprehending the two suspects within five minutes on Southeast 164th Avenue near the state Highway 14 onramp, Donaldson said.

The two suspects, Vaughn Miller and Leeanna Doster, both 26 and from Vancouver, were arrested on suspicion of first-degree burglary. Miller was additionally found with heroin and methamphetamine and was arrested for first-degree possession of a controlled substance, Donaldson said.

A third person in the vehicle was determined to not be involved in the crime, Donaldson said.
