A Battle Ground teenager was hospitalized after driving into a ditch north of Battle Ground Wednesday afternoon.

According to the Washington State Patrol, Anabella G. Macedonio, 17, was heading south on state Highway 503 when, around 4:15 p.m. and 6 miles north of Battle Ground, her sedan went out of control.

The car went into a ditch and then struck an embankment.

Macedonio was hurt and taken to PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center. Her condition was not available. The crash totaled the vehicle.

She was wearing a seat belt, and impairment was not a factor, according to the State Patrol.

Troopers said excessive speed and driving with wheels off the roadway led to the crash. Macedonio was cited for driving with wheels off the roadway.
