Woodland asks residents to limit water use

Woodland – Woodland is experiencing a “low flow” situation at the Ranney pump house, and is asking residential water customers to limit water use to just inside household use only, the city announced shortly before 10 a.m. Thursday.

The notice from the city also asks construction crews to limit water use on “any nonessential use for construction.”

Mike Peterson with the city’s water plant said the pump had a mechanical issue, which was fixed before end of the day Thursday. Still, the city is asking residents to be cautious with water usage at the moment.

“We’ll still be on shortage for a couple of days,” he said. “It takes a while for the reservoir to fill after it’s been down like that.”

Peterson said he wasn’t sure what the issue was just yet. It could have been that Lewis River was too low.

“We never quit pumping water,” he said. “We were just backpedaling. We didn’t want to get the reservoir too low. We wanted to stay ahead of the game and keep people informed.”

Residents with questions can contact Woodland Public Works at 360-225-7999.
