The Vancouver Fire Marshal’s office is still investigating the causes of two fires Thursday that affected six buildings and caused more than $2 million damage.
The first of the two-alarm fires began at about 4:40 p.m. at 1517 East Reserve St. near Clark College. The fire destroyed the house, a detached garage and a car and damaged a second home at 1523 East Reserve St.
The first home, 1517 East Reserve St., sustained a total loss of $182,921. Of that, $101,260 was in structure damage and $81,661 was in destroyed contents, said Vancouver Fire Marshal Deputy Alicia Perry. The house is owned by Julie E. Flores, according to property records.
A neighboring home at 1523 East Reserve St. sustained $131,208 in total damage, with content damage valued at $67,592 and structural damage to the home valued at $63,616, Perry said. The house is owned by Anne L. Mendoza, according to property records.
