1. Two summer celebrations

It will be an outdoor party with summer activities and crafts at Camas First Friday’s Small Town Summer Fun. From 5 to 8 p.m. Aug. 4, visitors can play outdoor games including corn hole, ring toss, duckie race and marble grab and enjoy live music, ribbon cuttings, art show opening celebrations, kids painting activities and paper boat crafts on Northeast Fourth Avenue in downtown Camas. Hawaiian style shirts and attire encouraged. The Liberty Theatre, 315 N.E. Fourth Ave., will screen of “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” — the 1992 movie, not to be confused with the TV show — for the 25th anniversary at 8:30 p.m. for $6. 360-216-7378 or http://downtowncamas.com

Break out your favorite blanket for Ridgefield First Saturday’s Picnic in the Park from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Aug. 5. This community focused event is all about soothing summer fun. Attendees are encouraged to pack a lunch, though food will be available for purchase. “Ridgefield’s Got Talent,” a community talent show, runs 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. ,with the public voting for favorites to win prizes, along with a pet photo contest, a used-book sale, art activities for kids and water misters. 2. Two events for a cause

Boy Scout Troop 462 hosts its first Scouting Cruise In Car Show from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Aug. 5 in the parking lot of Mountain View High School, 1500 S.E. Blairmont Drive, Vancouver. The show will be open to all types of cars and bikes with multiple raffles, dash plaques and trophies in six classes, including People’s Choice and Best in Show. There will be food and other vendors on site. Proceeds allow more Boy Scouts to participate in adventures. Admission is free for spectators, $10 for cars and bikes. 360-241-9639.

The 18th annual Race for the Homeless features 5K and 10K runs, a 5K walk and a kids fun run from 7 to 10 a.m. Aug. 5 starting from the O.O. Howard House, 750 Anderson St., Vancouver. Proceeds benefit Open House Ministries. The race is hosted by New Heights Church. Registration opens at 7 a.m. with a race start at 8 a.m. Registration is $15 to $20 and free for the kids fun run. https://newheights.org/race

3. And rocking rocks

Learn about pictographs and the three styles of rock art found in the Columbia River Basin at Columbia River Rocks! Columbia River Basin Rock Art at the Lelooska Museum. An interpreter will give an introduction highlighting rock art and its history, followed by a tour of the grounds as visitors record pictographs in a booklet. At the end of the tour, visitors will be invited to create one of the designs on a river rock to take home. The event will run from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Aug. 5 at the Lelooska Museum, 165 Merwin Village Road, Ariel. Admission is free, with donations appreciated. 360-225-9522 or www.lelooska.org
