Battle Ground — For the past three years, members from the Battle Ground chapter of General Federation of Women’s Clubs choose one morning in July to pick blueberries at Majestic Farms. This year, the group picked 101 pounds of berries, which were then sorted and separated into quart-sized plastic bags to give to local families through the North County Community Food Bank. The farm sold the berries to the club at a 60 percent discount. The General Federation of Women’s Clubs’ focus is on community service. The pickers were Johanna Hyatt, Lois Simmons, Mary Lee Miller, Paulette Stinson, Bonnie Rippengale, Karen Rice, Marla Polos and Valerie Huey.
