Zach Johnson and Cameron Sommer combined on a one-hitter as the Clark College baseball team split a road doubleheader against Chemeketa on Sunday.
Johnson (1-0) struck out six, and Sommer had three strikeouts in the 9-3 win in the second game against the Storm.
Nathaniel Affonso went 3 for 4 with a double, home run and four RBI for Clark. Bryce Roesch homered and had three RBI, and Josh Berman hit a solo home run.
Clark (15-15, 6-10 NWAC South) lost the first game 10-0. The Penguins were held to two hits. Union High grad Austin Cline had one of the Storm’s 12 hits.
Clark next plays at Clackamas on Friday, and hosts the Cougars in a doubleheader at 1 p.m. Saturday.
