Two people were displaced in an overnight fire at a Camas apartment complex.

Crews with the Camas-Washougal Fire Department were called to 940 N.W. Seventh Ave. at 12:08 a.m. Thursday for a report of a fire in one of the apartments.

Firefighters arrived and saw flames coming from one of the units and quickly doused the blaze, containing the damage to the common room of one unit in the four-unit building, Camas-Washougal Division Chief Cliff Free said.

Everyone had gotten themselves out of the affected apartment and the rest of the building was evacuated, but no other units were damaged, Free said.

With help from Vancouver Fire Department and East County Fire & Rescue, crews checked to make sure everyone was safe.

A father and son were displaced by the fire, Free said, but declined assistance from the American Red Cross as they had other means to house themselves.

The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Camas-Washougal Fire Marshal’s Office.
