Columbia Springs is offering drop-in volunteer opportunities for people who want to spend a couple of hours making a difference in the community.

The work will include projects ranging from tree planting, invasive species removal, trail maintenance, construction and other projects. The day’s work will wrap up with an activity, such as weaving baskets from English ivy and building bird feeders.

The event will take place from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. May 13, in the SWIFT classroom at Columbia Springs, 12208 S.E. Evergreen Hwy.

Children must be 7 or older to participate. Anyone younger than 16 must have a parent or guardian with them. Those between 16 and 17 must have a parent or guardian sign them in at the beginning of the day. Registration isn’t required, but attendance is capped at the first 30 participants.
