C-Tran service will be slowed by MAX work

Major work on MAX tracks in downtown Portland will significantly impact C-Tran’s Express service in May.

The construction starts on Sunday. C-Tran’s commuter service will be affected beginning Monday. The work is expected to be finished by May 20.

While the work is underway, C-Tran Express buses won’t operate north of Columbia Street in downtown Portland. Routes 105, 134, 164, 177 and 199 will use normal stop locations between Hall and Columbia streets, and service both Fifth and Sixth avenues during the morning and evening commutes. Routes 164 and 177 will serve as an extra temporary stop at southbound Fifth Avenue and Clay Street, which is currently served by routes 105, 134 and 199.

MAX trains will run north of Columbia Street, but passengers should expect crowds and reduced frequency during the construction. TriMet will also run shuttle buses every five minutes or less between the Rose Quarter and Providence Park.
