• Friends of the Carpenter seeks woodworking events assistants to help with a variety of tasks such as cutting out decorative spiral lines or patterns on a scroll saw, making inspirational or holiday ornaments and other needs. Position requires a three-month commitment.
• YWCA seeks Safe Choice Advocate volunteers to serve victims of domestic and intimate partner violence through a 24-hour crisis line, a secure shelter, and legal advocacy.
• Peace Health Southwest Medical Center seeks volunteer receptionists to staff the information desk during various shifts, including evenings.
• Vancouver Fire Department is looking for Fire Corps volunteers to help with fireworks safety, preschool/kindergarten safety, home safety surveys, smoke alarm installation, community safety events and school art contests.
The Nutter Foundation is recruiting volunteers for Dozer Day 2017, May 20-21 at the Clark County Fairgrounds in Ridgefield. Dozer Day is an annual event that allows kids to operate dump trucks, bulldozers and excavators with experienced operators. It includes music, food, giveaways and activities. Proceeds benefit local organizations.
Volunteers are needed to operate equipment, help children on and off machinery, monitor lines and assist with check in. The minimum age is 14.
To ensure the safety of children attending Dozer Day, all volunteers will be pre-screened through the Washington State Patrol background check system in advance. For information, go to vancouver.dozerday.org
Legacy Health seeks volunteer members for its Patient & Family Partner Council at the Salmon Creek location. The council strives to improve the patient experiences for everyone. The group meets once a month, from 5:30 to 7 p.m., and the first meeting is May 11.
