Woodland — Seven Woodland Intermediate third- and fourth-graders were selected as finalists in the second annual Sodexo Future Chefs of America event, held March 27 at Woodland High School.

This year’s theme was Comfort Food. Each student was paired with a food services employee, and prepared enough servings of their recipe for parents and community members at the finals and for a special presentation plate.

Keira Rhodes received the gold medal for her Biscuits and Gravy With Green Beans, while Calista Conder’s Chili Corral earned her a second-place finish. Keira received a gift basket with measuring cups, oven mitts, a cutting board, a backpack and a Fitbit.

Her recipe will also be submitted for the regional competition.
