A man was arrested after, police say, he crashed into a front yard Monday night and was accused of being in possession of a gun he shouldn’t legally have.

Officers were called to a single-vehicle crash in the 3600 block of East McLoughlin Boulevard at about 11:30 p.m. after witnesses reported a vehicle on its side in the front yard of a residence, Vancouver Police Department spokeswoman Kim Kapp said.

No one was injured and the driver was out of the vehicle, but reportedly walking away, Kapp said. A caller then reported that a gun was involved, Kapp said.

Officers located the suspect, James Holder, 53, no address listed, who was in possession of a holster and spare loaded magazine, Kapp said.

Officers found a fully loaded handgun in some nearby bushes.

Holder was arrested on suspicion of unlawful possession of a firearm and was booked into the Clark County Jail. Misdemeanor charges of driving under the influence of intoxicants and hit and run were referred to the Clark County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office.
