VANCOUVER – Jerry McWithey, director of flight operations at unmanned aerial vehicle manufacturer Insitu, will be the featured speaker at the Pearson Field Education Center’s fundraising event on May 20.

The annual “Let’s Take Flight!” dinner and auction benefits aviation education programs for youth at the education center, which is a program of the Fort Vancouver National Trust.

The Bingen-based Boeing subsidiary designs, develops and manufactures customized unmanned aerial vehicles for commercial, government and defense customers worldwide.

McWithey is a graduate of the U.S. Navy’s test pilot school. His career includes serving as commanding officer and executive officer of Electronic Attack Squadron 135, operations officer on the USS Kittyhawk and commanding officer at Naval Air Station Kingsville in Texas.

The event starts at 5:30 p.m. at the education center, Pearson Field, 201A East Reserve St.

It will include silent and live auctions. Admission is $100 dinner. For tickets or information, go to fortvan.org/letstakeflight.
