Weather Eye: Unsettled weather all week with rain, showers, mountain snow

No doubt about it, we have no shortage of those predicable April showers, enough for many and too much for most. There were scattered thunderstorms Saturday with winds, heavy downpours and hail.

But that’s April for you. Old Sol tries to shine its light upon us and warm things up, but cold air aloft overpowers those rays of sunshine.

We did manage quite an achievement this past week. Yes, we struck the magic 70-degree mark for a high temperature Friday. In fact, we surpassed it with a high of 71 degrees. I could so much lavish a whole week of that!

We are one up on the Rose City as they failed to reach 70 degrees Friday with a high of 69 degrees. Despite the showers and unsettled weather yesterday, we managed to squeeze out a high of 62 degrees, which is exactly average for this time of the year. I might mention while we had 71 degrees Friday, most of the ocean beaches had highs around 70 as well.

Now we discuss the upcoming weather. Don’t shoot the messenger.

Yes, it will be unsettled all week with rain, showers and heavy mountain snows. We may have thunderstorms here and there as well. I doubt we have any highs at 60 or better this week unless we have some longer periods of sunshine. It will be a cool air mass settling in.

We may, if the weather gods are content, have a dry and warm weekend as high pressure builds inland Friday. Of course, there is plenty of small print in that statement such as no promises, guarantees, guilty of any charges, etc. I wish I could be more positive in my writings.
