Third arrest made in death of Vancouver teen

Police believe Shawn Scott Jr. was targeted for his belt

A third person has been arrested in connection with the death of Shawn Scott Jr., the Vancouver teen allegedly murdered in Portland by a group of young people who wanted to steal his belt.

Miguel Thompson, 19, was arrested Friday by Portland police at Northeast Seventh Avenue and Fremont Street, less than two miles north of Holladay Park, where Scott was shot to death about 4:30 p.m. on April 11.

Thompson faces allegations of murder and robbery, according to a police news release.

Two other suspects were previously arrested. They are Malique Kennerly-Hicks, 17, who faces a robbery charge, and  Kole Tabian Jones,18, charged with murder and robbery.

The victim, Scott, was a junior at Union High School in the Evergreen district.

Detectives believe there are witnesses who have not contacted police with information.
