With Ilani Casino Resort a few days from opening, some of its inaugural week events are taking shape.

The Sweet, the British glam rock band behind the song “Ballroom Blitz,” will initiate the free week of shows with a performance Monday night. The band sold more than 55 million records before breaking up in the late 1970s. The current line up is led by original bassist and vocalist Steve Priest.

Tribute bands make up much of the rest of the week. Scheduled Tuesday is Friends in Low Places, playing songs from Garth Brooks, Shania Twain and Tim McGraw. Thursday has in store Beatles vs. Stones, a performance pitting tribute bands for the Beatles and Rolling Stones against each other in a “musical showdown.”

The concerts are free.

Portland-based band Cadillacs for Everyone will help kick off the weekend with a performance Friday. A Reba McEntire and George Strait tribute band, called Reba and George, So Good Together, will close out the events April 30.
