Law enforcement across Clark County participated in a traffic enforcement emphasis focusing on distracted driving for two weeks, resulting in 126 citations.

Deputies from the Clark County Sheriff’s Office, troopers with Washington State Patrol and officers with Battle Ground, La Center, Ridgefield, Vancouver and Washougal police departments participated in the emphasis.

They contacted 503 individuals, wrote 126 citations and gave 352 warnings. They also made one arrest for suspicion of driving under the influence of intoxicants and 12 other arrests.

The emphasis was funded by Target Zero, a Washington Traffic Safety Commission program aimed at having zero traffic fatalities and serious injuries by 2030.
