Hazel Dell – Clark County Fire District 6 has received a $20,000 grant from Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation to purchase 1,000 smoke detectors.

For at least 20 years, Fire District 6 has given away and helped to install smoke detectors to about 67,000 people living in the fire district, the agency reported.

Smoke detectors have shown to save lives, however, not everyone can afford the right number of detectors in their house, the fire agency said in a press release.

To support the smoke detector program, the agency relies on grants and donations.

Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation aims to provide funding, life-saving equipment and educational opportunities to first responders and public safety organizations.

Residents who live within the fire district and who need a smoke detector or help with installation are asked to contact Clark County Fire District 6 at 360-576-1195 or contact the Public Education Coordinator Dave Schmitke at david.schmitke@ccfd6.org
