Weather Eye: More rain on its way – sigh

Wednesday did break 60 degrees; Saturday may be dry

In between the scattered showers Wednesday I was watching the thermometer and only imagined what it might be saying as it inched upward toward 60 degrees. “I think I can, I think I can, I know I can!”

At this writing it was still 58 degrees, but as the clouds lifted and a few bright spots emerged I thought it could achieve this milestone. How crazy is this for April? Struggling to even get up to “normal” temperatures? We for sure should surpass 60 degrees Saturday and maybe Sunday also.

Another weather system was poised for rain and showers today and Friday. High pressure inches its way inland Saturday and we should enjoy a dry day after fog or morning low clouds. Easter egg hunts are still on for late afternoon folks.

Sunday another rain storm is headed our way but if we have any luck at all, the heavy clouds and rain will hold off until late evening. And looking beyond the weekend, oh must we? Yep, more unsettled April weather with on again, off again showers. I do think this go around we have temperatures near normal with the wetness.

By late Wednesday afternoon, Vancouver was running about a quarter inch of rain above average so far this month. Not too bad, better than previous weeks. The average mean temperature is running pretty close to normal. Can you see an improvement? Yeah, slightly.

Bingo! The temperature at Pearson Field reached 61 degrees at 2 p.m. Wednesday. I knew it could! Another gold star on the calendar. Are you keeping track? That is five days at 60 degrees or better this month. Our average high is 61 degrees, so it is about time the weather got its act together.

I know as soon as I write this we’ll probably get a thunderstorm or something. Ugh. I’ll quit while I’m ahead. If you are celebrating Easter this weekend I hope you have a blessed holiday and the weather holds for all to enjoy. Chat with you on Sunday!
