Washougal — The Jemtegaard Middle School Robotics Club secured a first-place finish out of 59 teams in the Project Presentation category at the Oregon First Lego League State Championship on March 4.

The Project Presentation category asks teams to effectively communicate the problems they identified and their proposed solutions.

“They have been working so hard for seven months, contacting several professional biologists and government agencies to help them with their research,” Cherise Marshall, a robotics and science teacher at the school, said in a release from the district.

The team is made up of students Meryl Keeler, Jace Poulsen, Matt Chaffee, Xawshua Moua, Spencer Hill and Jacob Albee.
