Washougal — Gause Elementary School students learned about a variety of potential careers on March 3 when the school held its first Career Day.

Some of professions included were a pharmacist, geologist, homemaker, Transportation Security Administration agent and customer service manager.

Tony Fletcher, a Gause parent and Delta Air Lines pilot, brought in an example of an airway chart and wing pins for the students.

“They were interested in what schooling I needed, how long I have flown and what I like most about my job,” he said in a release from the district.

Jerolyn Friesen, school counselor, said in the same release that the idea for the day was to show students how skills they’re learning in school now can translate into a future career.
