Clear skies and sunshine ruled Monday afternoon but temperatures were slow to rise after freezing temperatures early Monday morning. At 4 p.m. Vancouver was at 55 degrees after a low of 35 degrees. Temperatures dipped into the 20s in the outlying areas. Battle Ground was 29 degrees and Phil Delany above Dole Valley had 26 degrees.
We did accomplish somewhat of a milestone Monday: two days without measurable precipitation. Place a gold star on the calendar, please. No rain today would make it three in a row and Wednesday four.
You knew a prolonged dry spell was too much to ask, didn’t you? Looking at forecast models and satellite pictures Monday afternoon, it appears we go back into a cold and wet period beginning Thursday and lasting into the weekend, with snow levels dropping back below pass levels. It may continue well into next week. Clouds will increase Wednesday but I am hoping any rain or showers holds off until at least after dark on Wednesday, but don’t count on it.
The National Climate Service released its summer outlook the other day and if true would give us a wet and cool summer. April and May look like more of the same as well. We should have a high around 60 degrees today and Wednesday we will surpass that as warm air is pushed northward from the incoming cold front that arrives later in the week. I could stand a 70-degree high quite easily. You too?
