The Interstate 5 interchange at Exit 16 is complete, paving the way for the opening of the Ilani Casino Resort this month.

Crews from the Washington State Department of Transportation directed motorists to use new ramps and a new overpass Tuesday night. Two new roundabouts bookend the overpass.

The Cowlitz Indian Tribe celebrated the interchange’s opening with a blessing and song Tuesday afternoon in front of media members, local government officials and casino representatives.

“Our casino will be opening soon,” Cowlitz Chairman Bill Iyall said.
