Ridgefield schools set meetings on bond

District will host some meetings to discuss its upcoming bond vote

Ridgefield School District will host its second round of stakeholder meetings to discuss planning for the new grades five through six intermediate school and grades seven through eight middle school that are part of the district’s February 2017 bond vote.

In the first round of meetings, which took place throughout September, attendees learned about present practices, existing challenges and how layout and design can further support custodial and dining services. The second round of meetings will continue to focus on a specific facet of the proposed new buildings’ operations. The meetings are open to the public.

• 5:30 p.m. Wednesday in Room 311 at Ridgefield High School, 2630 S. Hillhurst Road, will focus on athletics and physical education.

• 2 p.m. Oct. 12 at the district office, 2724 S. Hillhurst Road, will focus on food service.

• 3 p.m. Oct. 12 in Room 301 at the high school, will focus on science, technology, engineering and math, and art.

• 3 p.m. Oct. 17 in Room 301 at the high school, will focus on the library .

• 3 p.m. Oct. 19 in Room 301 at the high school, will focus on performing arts.

• 3 p.m. Oct. 24 in Room 301 at the high school, will focus on technology.

• 3 p.m. Oct. 26 in Room 301 at the high school, will focus on special education.

Anyone interested in attending can call the district office at 360-619-1302 to register. The district will also host a bond forum from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the high school, where residents can learn more about the upcoming bond request.

The school board is asking voters to approve a bond of more than $90 million, which will go toward building the two new schools, developing an outdoor recreation complex, expanding Ridgefield High School and safety upgrades.
